A never before heard phrase that burst into our everyday lives as a result of the global pandemic was the term "social distancing." To defeat an invisible foe we had to create space between each other and we learned through structured enforcement by Federal, State, and local governments to keep our "distance." Do you remember that? This inculturate behavior combined with the separating nature of digital smartphone habits dealt a huge blow to something we simply cannot live healthy lives without - human contact. For starters, the Bible says that human beings need other human beings: "It is not good for man to be alone." Space between us limits communication between us. And as we ponder Jesus' commission for us be "in the mix" as salt and light for him, it can't work unless we intentionally seek spaces, opportunities, and creative ways to move those next to us closer to God. The pandemic is over. But does the space between you and those God is calling you to make reach in some way for him remain? It is time to close the gap, step into the life of another, and share some good news. A harvest of souls awaits!
