Venture Into The Unknown Session 1

When Jesus told his disciples in the upper room, “anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these…” How do you think the disciples felt? These disciples had seen with their own eyes the unbelievable and overwhelming power and authority of Jesus firsthand. Jesus’ power at times had terrified the disciples. Yet, now, he says, “you can do that, and more.” In light of this verse, which states that anyone who has faith will do these things, suddenly your daily devotional reading and church attendance doesn’t quite measure up to the “greater things” of Christ. Don’t get me wrong, devotionals and church attendance are good things we all should do, but do you have a heart for greater things. Do you even believe that greater things are possible for you? Well, I hate to break it to you, but the only person holding you back is yourself. In fact, Jesus is inviting anyone courageous enough into this greater spiritual experience with Him. The problem we have is that we have created small sandboxes for ourselves that set the parameters of where we play. We brand the things we are not comfortable with as being only for the “super-spiritual”, “hardcore evangelist”, “pastor-types” or “radical Jesus-followers”. By doing this, we feel in control of our lives and how much Jesus we get. Boys, its time to get out of the box! Out of the box you’ll find beaches of sand and oceans that can take you to places you haven’t even imagined. Don’t be the guy that marvels at the testimony of the Christian zealot...live it yourself. Jesus is waiting.
