Clay Jones - Why Does God Allow Evil?
The most vexing question facing Christianity and confronting the individual Christian is “Why does God allow evil?” Skeptics contend that this question cannot be answered, and believers often fear the skeptics might be right. Some Christians think their only refuge is to say, “We’ll find out in heaven.” But is that all the Christian has to offer? No. Talbot School of Theology visiting scholar Clay Jones has been studying this question for decades and has written a book entitled, Why Does God Allow Evil?: Compelling Answers for Life’s Toughest Questions. In that book he argues persuasively that we do know why God allows evil—the Bible tells us! In this four-part series Clay will indeed provide some of the compelling answers for why God allows evil. Along the way, Clay will explain why we suffer for Adam’s sin, why bad things happen to “good” people, what free will is, why free will is important, how we can have free will in heaven but not sin, and how our suffering is a required part of preparing us for eternity. Being able to answer why God allows evil enables us to answer the skeptic, comfort the Christian, and increase our confidence in the truth of historic Christianity. After all, we can’t love the Lord will all our minds and secretly believe that Christianity can’t answer the tough questions. This series will help you answer the toughest question of all: Why does God allow evil?
