For most men, their life is full of "loves." In fact, we like to describe a man by what they love. In answer to the question, "What is he like?" we will say "Oh, he loves ..." and then go on to identify what a man values. This would include his attachments to people, his beliefs, his sports teams, his hobbies, types of food or music. To get an accurate picture of who they are, all you have to do is talk about who or what they "love." The downside of loving anything is that that "thing" can be taken away without your permission by any number of unplanned or unwelcomed events. These are called "losses" for a man and they suck! Losses involve no longer being able to connect to who you love or what you love to do. All losses are emotionally challenging but some are excruciatingly difficult and a CRAZY ASK in life. Meet Ezekiel in the Bible - a man called by God and asked by God to give up what he held dear. His story is our story as men of faith. God will require us to suffer the loss of things we "love" - sometimes the most precious things - to perfect, correct, and direct us into His perfect will which is not always comfortable or easy to accept. He should know - he had to do the same thing in giving up his only son. Not gonna lie - this is a challenging but necessary session as men's expert and pastor Kenny Luck helps men of faith navigate challenging moments of loss.
