Seriously...

Know anybody who has strong opinions? Or maybe they simply trust themselves so much they believe others will understand if they give themselves permission - in the moment - to disregard your clear direction in favor of what they felt was best. In our journey with God, strong opinions or our pattern of giving ourselves permission to decide what's best can warp obedience to God causing us to dilute the authority and commands of God. The culture around us encourages this type of self management. It's subtle, rationale, and sends a very clear message to God: "I know you have spoken on this but I thought this would be better." When we act like this, the Bible says that we cease being Christians and start being consumers. The clay replaces the potter. The branch starts acting like it' the vine. The sheep start telling the shepherd what to do. The Bible reveals a God who did not consider our special circumstances or opinions when he declared his will or desire in the different dimensions of life. He expected us to take what he says seriously or we are simply borrowing trouble. This powerful series explores men who did and did not take God's direction seriously providing powerful lessons for God's man. In this cultural moment, spiritual consistency and willingness to surrender fully and completely to the Potter's intentions will save you from trouble and usher in God's power. Starting a race is different than finishing a race.  Starting a "DIY" (do-it-yourself) home project and leaving it unfinished is confusing. Or, maybe you have heard it this way:  "People don't remember how you start but they will remember how you finish."   The big idea is this: starting somethin...

Wealth. Wisdom. Power.  Today's culture is loathe to give a man these three things because it fears that he will use them to serve himself and abuse others.  This brand of broken male culture is called toxic masculinity. The message being sent to men could not be clearer:  being strong and being ...

Energy.  Men measure interest by the amount of it we see expressed.  We say, "I don't have any energy about that" or we ask "Where is this energy coming from?"  We know that the expression of "energy" physically or emotionally means it's personal.  A lot of times we don't if a man has energy abou...

"Do as I say, not as I do."  Ever heard that weak and hollow encouragement?  It means they know the standard is right but their example is wrong.  They are discouraging imitation.  Jesus says the exact opposite to every man that has chosen to follow him.  He encourages imitation.  In fact, taking...
