Hope provides power. You hope to have a relationship with the girl of your dreams, so you risk asking her out. Where did the power come from? A relational hope. You hope to get a bonus check this month, so you risk calling on a customer who could use and buy a lot of what you sell. Why did you do that? A financial hope. You hope to drop some weight, so you buy a gym membership, show up a few days a week, and stop filling your face with fries every day. Why the change in lifestyle? A physical hope. The expectation of a result moves us to adjust our behavior to reach an ULTIMATE goal. We live for the ultimate when we possess a hope that is stronger than the immediate. God's man hopes to walk by faith and please God, so he takes spiritual risks. Why does he put himself "out there" for God? An ULTIMATE hope.
