Jesus told his disciples that they would stand out by not allowing themselves to be controlled by cultural movements or thinking that excluded God or were hostile to God. They would be swimming up stream for sure - especially when it came to choosing Christ above longstanding cultural norms. The many new challenges they never had to consider before were facing them like a large tidal wave. Can you relate? In today's cultural riptide, one wrong word or statement and you get a label or are excluded from relationships with others. It is happening in culture and happening among believers. Behind this symphony of conflict and destruction is the Great Divider, the sworn enemy of healthy connection between people. And just like Jesus' disciples who had their moment in time, every Christian alive today has this powerful moment, a powerful enemy against them, and a powerful mission to engage and use the events of the world to influence others for God. Will you be able to rise above culture, engage it, and overcome it. In Part 2 of NOT OF IT, pastor and men's expert Kenny Luck explores the four ways Jesus told his disciples they would stand out in the midst, not in the absence of, a challenging and sometimes hostile culture.
